Early in the college year Jhe Students' Christian Association took a religious census of the University. The result has just been annoumced. At the time the census was taken all the students were not here. 3nly 2,145 were enrolled when the census was ended. Many had not been seen and others had failed to fill out the cards. Of those who answered 1,181 were church members. This is an effectual answer to the charge that the University is a non-religious institution. Of the others 480 expressed preferences for various churches. The church membership was as follows: Presbyterian, 247; Methodist, 238; Congregationalist, 199; Episcopalian, 167: Baptist, 126; Roman Catholic, 78; Christian, 43; Seventh Day Advuntists, 30; Unitarian, 20; Friends, 5; Latter Day Saints, 5; United Brethren, 3; miscellaneous, 20. The preferences expressed by those who were not actually church members was as follows: Presbyterian, 133; Methodist, 108; Congregational, 75; Episcopalian, 49; Baptist, 35; Unitarian, 61; Christian, 17; Friends, 1; Seventh Day Adventist, 1 . These figures should be brought before the various church denominations at their annual meetings to show the great work cut out for the churches in caring for these young men who are going out to exercise great influence, the influence of educated men and women in the com munities in which they will reside.
