The Detroit Free Press of i day, containst he following of interest : in this county : A curious legal poiut uis arisen for the county of Washtenaw and the state of Vermout to settle. It is brought up by the death last week of Henry Osborne, one of the oldest settlers of the county. About fifty years j ago he had a brother sent from this oounty to an insaue asylum in Brattleboro, Vt. , there being then no asylums in the west. Heury Osbome, af ter his father's death, maintained his brother in the asylmn at an expense of several hundreds of dollars a year. A few years ago he failed in business and was unable longer to stand the expense. The case is a curious one, and the Vermaat authorities are in hot water. After the failure of his brother to provide for Mm he became a public charge, of course. But to what oounty? The boy had no residence here, having been sent away bef ore he was of age, and being au Lámate of an insane asylum he could gaiu no residence there. The attorney-general of Vermont has had the case under advisemeut, but has romo to no decisión. The Vermont authorities dare uot send him here without authority, for that would coustitute a serious ofïense. The eastern authorities will probably present a bilí to this couuty for Osborne 's keeping and the supervisors here will undoubtedely let the matter go to the courts, so that a-decision may be had. It is said that a similar case has never come up in the oonrts.
