Office of the Board of Public Works.) Ann Akbok, imcu., April 11, 1895. l Regular session. Called to order by the Clerk. Roll called. Present- Messrs. Schub and Bullis. Absent - Pres. Clark. On molioii Mr. Schub, acted as president pro tem. The clerk laid the bids of John Koch and Martin Haller for furnishing Couneil Cliauiber furuiture before the board. Mr. Bullía moved tbat the bid of John Koch be accepted, proviiling the chairs proposed could be furnished of white oak in dark antique finish. Yeas - Messrs. Schuh and Bullis.- 2. Nays - None. Mr. Bullis moved that the city attorney be requested to draw up a contract with A. J. Kitson for building a dog pound. Yeas- Messrs. Schuil and Bullis.- 2. Nays - None. President Clark entered and took the j chair. Mr. Bullis moved that connections i be allowed with the Liberty and Waah iúg street sewers on proper application j to the City Clerk, and obtaining permit i therefor when the ilusii tanks are put ' in and cpnuected with the water maina. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh and Bullis. -3. Nays - None. j Mr. Bullis moved that N. D. Oorbin I be employee!, to act under the supervisión of Pres. President Clark moved that the clerk be nstruoted to get deflnite terms for printintc the Plumbers' Rules aüd Amended Sewer SpecificAtions and make arrangemeuts for printing the ■same. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh and Bullis.- 3. Nays - None. Mr. Bullís moved that ápplications be I made to the Board of Public Works at a ! sesaion of that board for permission to mdVe buildings along the public streets. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh and BulHa s Naya - No lie. Mr. Bullís moved that a suitable book be purchased for the street commissioneriu wliich to keep the records of hia office. Yeas - Pres. Clark, Schuh and Bullis.- 3. Nays - None. Mr. Bullís moved tliat the aetion of ;ho atreet couimissioner in purchasing trees for John I,oney to replace those cilled by the sewer be approved by the joard. Veas- Prea. Clark, Schuh and Bulis.- 3. Nays-t- Nm. Mr. Schuh moved that the Board of Public Works recominend to the Coininon Council that the inaiu sewer from ;he east manhole on Madison street to lili street le taken up and re-laid so hat the Hill street end will be three eet lower or as near to that point as ossible. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh, Bullis.- :. Naya - None. Mr. Bullis stibmitted the following communicatiou to be presented to the Council : To the Common Council : The Board of Public respectfullv represen that lt is impracticable for waut of cbeap suitable gravel to continue as heretofore t gravel some of the st of this City also that it is not ecoraouical to so do We therefore recommend that measure should be taken to pave the business streets o the city. Wealsoask that the Board be allowed to purchase h cur load of these blocks t be usec to build street crossings with instead of makmg the same of cement whieh has been found süpery for horses. AlsoMr. Arthur Rrownhas teudered to the Board swamp oak plunkto be sawed to such thickncss as the Board may direct; lu ft in lejigth for $18 per f. o. b. Ann Arbor. We recoramened the purchaseof at leastone car load (two can be used to aövantage) of suchpltmkio be used for crossiugs and for culvert and bridge coverinp-s. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schub, Bullis.- 3. Nays - None. Mr. Edward Lewis asked the Board for the priviledge of placing a sign over the sidewalk in front of bis place of business. Upon motion of Mr. Schuh the matter was referred to Mr. Bullis to examine the ordinance relative to the same. Pres. Clark moved that all persons now occupying the public streets for buildmg rnatenals or wlio rnay hereafter want to occupy the same for such purpose, are to make written application to the Clerk, who is to report the same to the Board at their next regular meeting. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh, Bullis- 3. Nays- None. Mr. Schuh moved that W. G. Dieterle be given permission to occupy a portion of E. Liberty for the purpose of building materials. Yeas- Pres. Clark Schuh, Bullis - 3. Nays - None. Mr. Bullis moyed that the Board deern it advisable that the city purchase one or more road machines of itnproved quality, and capacity and invite the competition of manufacturers of such machines. Yeas- Pres. Clark, Schuh, Bullis.- 3. Nays - None . On motion the Board adiourned. Olerk.
