Alton, Ia., May 6. - Northwestern Iowa's, cyclone and other electrioal disturbancos oceurring about the same time and probably related to the tornado itself In some way, cost at least fifty human Uves. A hunilred others are injured, and the liestruction of a million dollars' worth of farming property is a low estímate. The whlrlwind, but half an hour in duration while at its fiercest, swept over 1,200 square miles of cultivated farm land and left in its wake a ruin rarely equaled in so short a penod of time. It will be several days before the list of dead can be accurately completed. Many of the small oommunities stricken are removed from the railroads and the country roads are in bad condition, but the relief committee working frora Alton has direct information as to the following doaths: A List of Tliirty-Oue Dead. Everett Arnold, of Crestón, aged 18, killed by lighuiing; Mrs. Herman Bellkamp, of Sibley, killed by lightning; Miss Nellie Coombs, of Sibley, killed by lighttiing; two Coombs children, struck by lightniug; L. D. Everett, of Sioux Center; eight children still missing from the Haggie school house, thought to have been killed; Matilda Haggie, of Ireton, killed by falling debris; Jacob Jansen, of Sioux Center; Mrs. John Koster, of Sioux Center; two Koster children of above; Miss Anna Marsden, of Sioux Center, a school teacher: George Marsden, of Sioux Center, a school teacher; Mrs. C. B. Ost, of Ireton; Mrs. Postma, of Sioux Center; Miss Anna Post, of Ireton; Peter Stimmer, of Superland, killed by ligntning; Rudolph Schwerdtfeger, of Laurens, killed by lightning; Verhof, a child, of Sioux Center; Louis Verhof, of Sioux Center; Mrs. John Watterman, of Sibley; Mr. Warie and babe, of Ireton. Two Score Feople Injured. The injured are: M. Blackmore, of Sibley; Nathan Blackman, of Ireton, Miss Minia Coombs, of Ireton, bruised; wiü recover; Miss Jennie Coombs, badly bruised about head and face, will probably recover; Miss Luella Coombs, seriously injured; Devoort, four girls, of Ireton, bones fractured and internal Injuries; Peter Devoort, face and arms cut and brui&ed; Albert Devoort, hurt internally; John Freys, of Sibley, badly injured; Miss Haggie, of Sioux Center, badly injured; John Haggie, internal injuries, badly burt; Herman Hasgie, leg brokbn; Lewis Haggie, face bruised and internally injurei; William Haggie, shoulder dislocated; tíeorce Hulstein, aged 6 years, of Sioux Center; John Jansen, of teioux Center, arm broken; Miss Nellie Koster, of Sioux Center, badly hurt; Miss Agnes Koster, face bruised; Miss Mildred Koster, internal injuries; two Meeks children, of Hawarden; three McConless children, of Ireton; A. M. Perry, of Hawarden, face cut and bruised; Mrs. Rosburg, head and arms cut; Miss Ida Rosburg, injured internally ; Thomas Rosburg, aged 15, slightly hurt; Daniel Rosburg, bruised slightly; Lewis Rossbury, of Sibley, shoulder dislocated; John Rossbury, of Sibley, badly bruised; two Sherman children, of Sioux Center; Alice Smith, aged 9 yeara, of Sibley, bruised; James Smith, aged 11 years, badly bruised; John Watterman, of Sibley, may die; Henry Watterman, son of above, will recover.
