Death Of Henry M. Scudder

Chicago, June 6.- The death of Dr. H. M. Scudder at Winchester, Mass., is announced. He was prominent in pulpits in thi3 city, San Francisco, Brooklyn and Boston. He was born in Ceylon, India, in 1823, The sorrow of his Ufe - and which doubtless had much to do with his death was the charge made against his son, H. M. Scudder, Jr., who committed suicide in jail her, to which place he was committed on the charge of poisoning his mother-in-law in order to obtain the benefit ot her wlll. This affair nearly broke his father's heart, as well as brt-aking down his health. and although he al ■ ways believe his son innocent of the crime he never fully recovered from the effects of the schock. Following this affair he retired from the ministry and removed to Wiüchester, where he livod with his wife and daughter untll his death.
