Kansas City, June 17. - A special ta fhe Times from St. Francis, Kan., snys: A terrible tragedy was enacted about iiine miles northeast of St. Francis. Frank Williams, a farmer, while In a fit of jealous rage, attempted to murder hi wife. Miss Allee Smith and William Smith He then beat the braina out of hi9 two chlldren, a little glrl aged about 6 and a boy about 9 yearg of age, with e hatchet, after whioh he blew hls own brains out with a revolver. Williama lost his first wife last September, and on May ia married Mrs. Anna Kennedy, lormerly a Miss Dixon, wlk lived neai by, and who had assisted in his housework for some time past. Opens fire on Everyboily In Slght. Their mairied life was very un happy, nnd after aboutfour weeks of turmoil the woman left hira and went to live in the family of a man naraed A. Swanson, a neighbor. Duriog the past week Williams went to the house of Swanson several times, flourished a revolver and threatened to kiü his wife and Mrs. Swanson. ïhe Swanson family and Mrs. Williams started to cometo St. Francis fot the purpose of having Williams arrested. O ti the way they topped at the house of George Smith. While there Williains appeared upon the scène and prooeeded to settle the uifficulties between himself and wife by whipping out a revolver and beginning to flre at everbody in sight. Completes hím Woik at Home. William Sinitn was shot through the check, the bullet knocking out two of his teeth and tearing away a portion of the jaw He was also shot twice in the back and may die. Miss Smith received a bullet in the breast, but fortunately her cor6et arrested the bullet and she sufifered but a slight flesh wound. Mrs. Wiliiams, the wife, received a bullet in the mouth, but was not seriously wounded. Williams then rode home, where he completed his devilish work by sraashing the brnins out of his two children with a hatchet and shooting himself through the head. When the sheriff arrived on the scène Williams and the little girl wera dead and the boy was dying.
