Büffalo, N. y., June-L7.- Oetavius O.' Cottle, a promineut Buffalo lawyer, was found bound and gngged in the cellar of a vacant hoase at Black Rock vesterday morning. Oottle'a story Is as fólldws: On Monday morning a man drove' to his house and told htm a man on'Chenango street desired to rnake a real estáte deal with hini, Cottle was dnven to an unoccupied cottage In Baynes street, where on ontering he was seized by hls guide and another man and gagged and bound. Money was demandedand underthreuts he was compelled to write a note to his wife saying ihat he was under arrest in Fort Erie and asking for 13,500. The man with the bugity drove b;ick to Mr. Cottle's house wi:h the note and deliverjd it to Mrs. Cotüe, who cal led upon her son for aivice. The lattar want out to confer with the raan,ho rode awny. Mi-. Cottle was kept in bondage for two days He was hnudcuffed and a dog collar put around his neck and chained to a ch.iir. A pitcher of water was put near, so that by stooping he could reach it, and the only food givjn him were a few crackers. Here ho remained while other efforts to extorc ïuoney trom the Cottle family were made. At lengch the bandics feared that perhaps they would be tmpped and took C ictle to the cellar.
