Waterproofing

To make materials waterproof, mix together one pound of sngar of lead and one pound of aluin, pounded separately, and pour over it 2 qnarts of boiling water. Let stand for six hours and bottle for use. It should be applied with a spouge or soft brush uutil the material is tb.orougb.ly wet. It sbould theii be ironed and hung up to dry.
