An Early Morning Alarm
The flre department boys were rudely aroused from their righteous sleep last Monday morniiif? at 1 :05 to respond to an alarm of fire from 75 East Washington street, the house just in the rear of the Methodist church. The alarm came in a rather unusual raanner, the man bringiug it iu puiling the wrong gong aud letting the horses out to the wagous iustead of waking up the rnen. The firu in the house was conflued to the rear, aud no water at all was thrown in the front part. Soon af ter the fire started there were two explosiona, whioh made the work rather dangerous, some of the boys being rudely shaken up. The explosions were doubtless duo to hot air. The fire originated from spontaneous combustiĆ³n in a store room. The house was occupied by three women, who had just moved in and were barely settled. The house, which belongs to a man named Fasquelle.was dainaged to the extent of $100.
