J C McGee,, one of the best known geologists in the govemment service, is called No Point McGee by his friends because, uot having bad a Christian narae given him by his parents, when he went into the goveruruent service, he was corupelled to choose distiuguishing initials. He took all the letters of the alphabet,. placed them in his hat and drew two at jandora. These he selëcted for his uame, aud since then he has signed himself J C McGee. This became kuown about thegoverument office, and theu his name was published J C McGee, without the periods, for the printers said there was no abbreviation. -
