A foolish girl and a maa who was qld enough to kuow better stirred np onite au agitaton here aud at Ypsilanti Monday aud Tnesday nights. Mouday aight Marshal Petersou reueived word from laokscu that an oloping couple from that city were on their way east over the Michigan Central and h6 was asked to make a searoh of the night train here for them. The searoh was made the marshal going through the train in company with another officer while two other ofñcers kept watch on the platform The marshal failed to find the couple on the train for the very good reason that they had left it, esnaping the notice of the offioers on the platform. The two reinained that night at a house near the depot and went to Ypsilanfei Tnesday on the motor. Marshal Peterson went to Ypsilanti ou the Toesday night train and found a couple about to leave there for Detroit. He gne.ssed they were the people wauted, although the desoription he had did not tally with tlm exac tly. The fellow did not desire to go with the marshl, suice he had no warrant, but was finally prevailed upon to go rather than be handcuffed. Marshal Peterson took the nest train to .Tackson with the couple. Upou arrival thero a great crovvd had cougregated in the depot, iucluding the girl 's moth9r and brothnr. The brother eudeuvored to get at the fellow wirh his fists while the mother had a revolver aud wuld have userl it but that the officers secured the weapon. The giri, whose name was Jessie Yóung, aged 17, was from a very goor! laniiiy. The man, who gave his name as L. D. Paokard, travelled for perfumes aud disenfectants of his own ■aake and sfcated that he 1 ived in Detroi t. He had kuown tbe girl bnt a short time. He is held at Jack3on on a charge of laroeuy, it being olaimed tbat he reciitly stole a valise and soiae goodsof a room mate. Ihe cotiple were rnarried in Jackson Wednesday night, the mother relenting and giving her consent. Packard was santenced in jnstice conrt to nnaty days in tbe Detroit House of Correction on the charge of larceny.
