The third volume of Vod Paschinger's work ou Prince Bismarck coutains several hitherto unpublished anecdotes. One of these relates how Dr. Schweninger became the cbaucellor's private physiciau and sulvjugated the great man to his will. Dr. Schweninger, who was indebted to Doetze, a deputy, for his introdnction to Bismarck's household, recognized the strong' temperament witli which he had to deal auá resolved to assume the whiphand at the very outset. Bismarck rebelled and had it placed before him notwithstanding. Heariugof what had been done, Dr. Schvveuinger entered the room, took the dish forcibly fiom the patient's hands aud iiung it out of the open window. The man of iron perceived that he h}d met his match aud was ever afterward the most docilo of patients under Dr.
