A Camp Fire
Welch Post, No. 137, G. A. B., held a very enjoyable camp flre Wednesday evening. Secretary Wade related bis experiences as a member of the "rear guard, " of the big wur meeting in New York in 1861, and the trouble the New Yorkers had to furnish substitutos for the last draft. Rev. J.Kimball described the duties of the chaplain, (Japt Manly reoited the incidents of the battles of Buil Run aud Gettysburg, Mayor Walker also discnssed the battle of Gettysburg, while Maj. Soule to)d how he reoeived his commission as major from Gov. Blair. There was some kicking beoause the war governor commissioned the major, who was a democrat, but the governor said he just as soou send a demoorat down to get killed ae anybody else.
