Ex-Slaves After Pensions.
TOPEKA, Kan., Feb. 13.—An organization of ex-slaves has been effected here by colored men for the purpose of making a demand on congress for pensions. It is the purpose to make this movement of national scope. There are possible 1,500 ex-slaves here. They will ask that all over 70 years of age shall get $700 in cash and $15 per month thereafter. All over 60, $500 in cash and $12 per month; all over 5 at the time of the emancipation, $300 and $5 per month; all over 1 year at the time of emancipation, $100 cash, and $1 per month.
