The faculty of the medical department at the University is deep in a discussion as to the desirability and practicability of fixing the course leading to the degree of M. D. in that department at six years instead - of four as it is at present. The discussion is veiy likely to termínate soon m snch a decisión, says one of the faculty. The proposal is along the same line as that of requiring the degree of A. B. fot' admission to the department, broached a short time ago. It may be news to some people to learn that there are 30 students now in the University who are taking a six years' course in medicine - a course combining work in both the literary and medical departrnents. Such a course as this it is now proposed to substitute for the standard four-year course. President Angelí and the medical cornmittee of the board af regents had two meetings last week with the medical faculty, this ehange being the subject under consideration. Nothing deflnite however, was determined on. If the chaiige be made it will take effect in 1900.
