The postoffice fiscal year euds March 81. For the year ending Maroh 31, 1896, the receipts of the sramp departniem of the Ann Arbor postoffice were 8T, 907.4, an increaso of about $1,000 over the preceding year. Of this arnonnt, afterpaying al] salaries aud expenses, there was reinitted to the department f 13,361.45 The receipts by quartei's were as follows: For the quarter ending June 30, 1895, $7,78 0.84 ; for the quarter endiug September 30, ?6,131.68; for the quarter ending Deoember 31, $9,176.1? and for the quarter ending Maroh 31, $8,818.75. It will be noticed how greatly tbe suinmer quarter cuts down tne yearly receipts, the last six months of the fiscal year exceeding the first six inonths by over 4.000. During the year there were 3,064 registered letters and packages sent from the office, of whicli 1,069 were sent in the first six months and 1,995 in the second six montha. There were doublé that nuinber of registered letters and paokages receive. During the fiscal year there were 2,038 special delivery letters and ages delivered in the oity. During the same time there were 2,811 speoial delivery stamps sold here, the extra mitnber sent over those received marking the result of calling attention in the newspapers to the beneflts of the special delivery system. Daring April, 1896, the receipts of the postoffice were f3,052.04, as compared with 2,781.43 in April of last year or au iucrease of .$270.01.
