Another old resident of Washtenaw couuty passed awuy ou Sunday last at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 3 days, froni the effeots of a paralytio stroke. John W. Renwick was born in Monroe county, N. Y. , Feb. 14, 1825, and carne to Washtenaw conuty with nis parents in Ootober, 1828, and he grew to maubood's estáte on tbe farm un which he died, amoug the stirring aud busy scènes of pioneer life. By reasou of his father being away from home a great part of the time he had to fake upon himself a good share of the work and superinteudence of the farm, and was thus deprived of the educatioual advantages which ha so muoh desired. Apnl 5, 1849, he wasrnarried toMis Amity B. Packard, daughter of Alexis and Prudence Packard, who was also born iu Monroe county, N. Y., and this union resulted in the birth of eight children. Mr. Renwick, dnring his. long residenoe in Salem had earued for himself the respect and good will of bis neighbors. He was a republican in politics. The funeral services were held at the house Wednesday afternoou and the remains were interred in the churhyard at Leland's.
