Memorial Day
Department (Jomruander Williatn Shakespeare of the Michigan G. A. B. has issued general order No. 4, directed to all the veterans of the state, and urging thflm on to a proper observance of Memorial Day. He invites the cooperation of every citizn, of every veteran, members of the W. R. C, S. of V., P. O. S. of A., and P. O. D. of A. besides the hosts of school ohildren, to partioipate in the day's celebration ; he recommends that every soldicr's grave where located be properly deoorated and cared for, even though it be hidden in obscurity, and adds: " Let it be noted in Michigan that Memorial Day, 1890, be speoially observed in every village and towu. Let all efforts to turn the day into one of games and pleasure, for pecnniary benefit, or into oue of amusemeuts that shall incline the yonthful mind away from the sentiment of patriotic loyalty, intended to be the lessou of the day, be earnestly opposed and if possible prevented. "
