lhe Ann Arbor comnion council me in regalar session Monday iiight and did considerable business without very muck talk. All the aldermen were present. Tlie petitions aeking that the willow trees on Beakes st. be removed, that a crosswalk be built across Spring st. , that repairs be made on Miller ave. sidowalks aud for a crosswalk aoross Packard st. at Mary st. , were referred to the proper eomruittees. The reoommendatiou of the board of public M'orks that the council inake arrangemeuts with the Ann Arbor Savings Bank to pay all labor bilis weekly at par, was received aud placed 053 file. Mrs. Olivia B. Hall was grauted permission to connect with the Washington st. sewer. The recommendation of the fire coinmittee tliat $300 be appropriated to purchase a team of horses for the fire depaitment, was referred to the comïuittee on fire depaitmeut. Warrauts amounting to $4, 006.26 were ordered drawn on the various fuuds as follows: Contingent, $1,458.52; sewer and general, $2.25; street, $l,59'ö.l7; bridge, culvert and crosswalk, $02.81; polioe, $260,75; firemeu's, $94.90; cemetery, $38. T1ib estiruates of the finauce comrnittee for the next fiscal year were atnénded by adding 11,000 to the amount fixed by it for the expenses of the fire departrnent, aud passed ttie council unauimously as follows: Street, 810,000; fire deparlment, $7,000; pólice, $2,000; poor, $2,500; water, $6,000; delinquent tax, 8455.45; contingent, $4,000; üuiversity aid, $2,400; bridge, culvert and crosswalk. $$'000; ruain sewer bonds' interest, .f3,200. Arthur Sweet's petition for damages for alleged injuries received iu the Packard st. sewer cave in was referred back to the council by the fiuance corumittoe without recommendation. and by the couucil to the city attorney. Charles H. Kliue's bill for Alay saJary as city attorney was laicl on the table. Sidewalks were ordered constructed on Second st., and Oaklaud ave. A crosswalk is to be built across Oaklaud ave. on the northwest side of Arbor st. The bonds of Rettich & Hochreiu, phunbeïs, and Aun Atbor Savings Bank were accepted. Dr. Dell was given the use of Felch Park for a pony ring, and the trees of the park wero ordered trimmed. The recommendatiou that water be pot in the park was referred to the board of pnblio works. The mouthly reports of the cicy cierk, chief of the flre departiuent, city marshal aud superintendent of the poor were read and ordered placed on file. E. S. Manly's resignation as one of the comiaissiouers of the city cemetery was aocepted. Expert Examiner John R. Miner reported everything correct in the books of the city clerk and treasurer and compliruented the officials highly on the same. City Engieer Key presented an estímate of $142.50 for a drain on E. University ave. and Piospect st. , and the work was ordered duiio according to the estímate. A plank sidewalk was ordered constructed along the north side of G-eddes ave. on the sonth sime of the cemetery from the cemetery gate to the west line of W. W. Nichols. The matter of macadamiziug Detroit st. was taken from the table and referred to the city attoruey.
