The popnlists of the second district held a convention in the court house on Saturday. The delegates who were present were ail from the other counties or from ontside of Ann Arbor in Washtenaw oounty. The meeting was presided over by P. J. Curtis, of Jackson, and Christopher H. Finger, of Jackson, officiated as secretary. The choice of the convention. for congressman from the second district feil upon John O. Zabel, of Petersburg, Monroe county. That gentleman and M. J. Loenuecker, of Jackson, were elected delegates to the populist national couveution at St. Louis, Mo. , and Benton J. Browu and Charles A. Littler, both of Jackson, were made altérnate delegates. No resolutions were adopted bnt the delegates to the conveutiou from the country districts scattered lots of free silver doctrine about the city wbile here.
