President Diaz, of Mexico, has written a long letter in which be describes the wonderful progresa ot Mexico since the adoption of a financial policy including the freecoinageof silver. The growth of Mexico's commercial and industrial interests has been particularly marked, writes the president. Our cotton and woolen milis have been obliged to enlarge their capacity and new ones are being established. Iidportations and exportations are increasing, and there has been nothing in the nature of a commercial panic consequent upon the sharp advance in silver exchange. Failures are happily rare. As to wages and the condition of laboring men, continĂșes Diaz, they compare favorably with those of other nations. The demand for skilled labor in all branches is strong. The value of our dollar bas not been impaired and its buying power is unchanged,
