New York, Sept. 29. - The Democratie state committee met Monday night in this city to hear the report of the committee appointed to notify the nominees of the recent Buffalo state convention. There was a full attendance by the members in person or by proxy, but Senator Iiill was not present. The committee reponed that Mr. Thacher had refused to accept the nomination ior governor and that Judge Titus had accepted the nomination for supremo court justice, and that Wilbur F. Porter, the nominee for lieutenant governor, had placed himself in the bands of the committee. The meeting of the comrriittee had been delayed an hour by caucuses, so when the .report was made thei-e, as above, there was little' delay in the proeeedings. In these caucuses it was agreed that the man to be named in place of Mr. Thacher should be W. F. Porter, the nominee for lieutenant governor, and in his place Fred C. Schraub of Lewis county, should be named for lieutenant governor. The nominations were made unanimous. Mr. Schraub came before the committee and made a short speech pledging himself to the Chicago platform and ticket and accepted the nomination.
