ine democrats, popnlists, silver men and prohibitionists of the tentb senatorial district met in the court house, Ann Arbor, in joint eouvention on Tueaday afternoon at 3 o'cloek. The preliminary sessions of eaoh of tbe bodi's wpre held separately prior to this tiine aud eanh appointed a conference coromffee. of three. which in turn met and loiiommended that 20 votes be allowed to each party in the joiut conventiou, that E. B. Korris be perraanent ohairman and ΓΌ. R. L Orozier seoretary. The informal ballot for fenator resulced in the names of Charles H. Manly, John McDougall, O. R. L; Crozier, and B. J. Curtis being presented to the convention. Capt. Manly withdrew at once and the second ballot resnlted in favor of Mr. McDougall, a well known, and intelligent farmer of Superior. W. L. Watkins, of Manchester, John L. Dnffy, of Ann Arbor, and A. S. Drake, of Jackson, were appointed as, the senatorial committe, Drief speeches were made and the convention adjourned. Mr. MoDoogall's nomination is generally locked upon as an exceptionally strong one.
