It is said that when Joseph Choate argued against the income tax before the supreme court, he received $100,000 for his services. This shows how and why the poor people of this country are continually flghting the money power at a disadvantage. They cannot make up $100,000 purses to fee big lawyers and buy up legislatures, congresses and courts. They are compelled to take what the bloated bondholders are willing they should have. "'How long will this state of affairs continue?" Just as long as the common people continue to send millionaires, corporation lawyers and their tools to make laws for them.
