A njovernent is on foot amoug the various charitable orgnizations of the city to seonre more united action in their deeds of oharity. Heretofore the work has been done soniewhat indiscriminately and aa a consaqnence sorue poor families have been abundantly assisted, vhile others equally deserving have not, frora the help they received, knuwu that there was si oh a thíng as a charitable organizatiou existed in Ana Arbor. At a recent meeting of the Needie Work Gmld, one of its meuibers stated tbat she knew that on last Thanksgiving Day one family was given six dinners. There ar also other cases of a like nature and the need of some co-operation in the distribution of charity is clearly demonstrated. The plao proposed is to secure a federatjon of the Woman's Charitable Union, the Needie Work Guild and the Woman's Relief Corps, all of which shall act in conjunotion with and be assisted by the advice of the city poormaster. These organizations wlll not consolídate themselves iuto oue body, but will each retain its separate and distinct organization. Tbey will, bowever, have oue h'ead, wbich is to govern and diieot their actions so that their deeds of charity shall be placed in the best possible rnanner and shall not be wasted. The several presidents of the societies mentioned, who are Mrs. W. S. Perry, of the Needie Work Guild ; Mrs. W. W. Wetmore, of the Woman's Charitable Union, and Mrs. H. S. Dean, of the Woman's Relief Corps, all recognize the desirability of conoerted aotion in this matter and a meeting was held yesterday afternoon at the Young Alen's Christian Association rooms to aot in the matter. At that meetiDg Mrs. W. S. Perry, Mrs. H. S. Dean and Mrs. W. W. Wetmore were appointed a committee to coufer with the mayor and president of tbe oonnnil as to the best naeans of securing the above important results.
