Michigan Defeated
Fifteen thousand ohearing and enthusiastio people saw the great football game between tbe U. of M. eleven and the Chicago University boys in the Coliseurn at Chicago yesterday. It was the greatest game ever played in the west, a veritable battle of giants, full of maguificent team work and brilliant individual plays on both sides. But the resnlt was a soore of ? to t in favor of Chicago, and the Michigan boys, who ave not been beaten this year and only scored against once, had to acknowledge themselves clearly beaten. The playing of Herschberger of tbe Cbicagos and a finke by Michigan at a critical point in the game was what gave theru the victory. Herschberger's treinend-' ous punts were really what wou the day. The Chicagos oould do nothing with Michigau'sline, but when Herschberger would punt the ball, 35, 40 and even 50 yards at a time, it kept Miohigan away from the Chicago goal andjall her spleudid tackle and line work was of no avail.
