James A. West, a young man who carne to Ann Arbor for medical treatment for rbenmatism last Bunimer, and was boarding and rooming with Mrs. Depue, at 63 E. Ann st. , oonimitted suicide last night by taking mophine. Mrs. Depue heard him breathiug heavily and thinking he was ill went to bis room to eee what was the matter. A letter lyiug at the door addressed to her told ber tbat he had taken niorphine as he was despondent of his future course in life. Dr. V. F. Breakey and other pbysioians worked over hirn last night but without vail as he died at 7 o'olock this morning. Besides bis letter to Mrs. Depue be left one to bis little daughter, one each for his father and sister, and two others all addressed and stamped for mailing. His remains were taken in charge by Corouer Ball, who will hold an inqnest.
