The News-Tribnne of Sunday ]ast. contained a very good pictnre of the well knowu features of Karl E Harri man. of this city, oaly sou of Judge W. D. Harriman. It also had the following sketch of the yonug man which will prove iuterestirig reading to his many friends in Ann Arbor and elsewhere : "Karl E. Harriman, of Ann Arbor, is an amateur actor whohas already attained a good reputaton for natural actng. He has played in amateur performances for the past seven years, and his characterizations have always been spoken kindly of by the press. Aiuong the personations which might be raentioned are the Baron in 'A Game of Carda,' Bresmouche in 'A Suiap of Paper,' Harry Grantly in 'Fate, ' and Capt. Phobbs in 'Jjend Me Five Shilliugs. ' The Ann Arbor Times made note a short time ago of 'the purity of his accent and his thorough familiarity with the stage business, which his friends hail as the inclination of a superior talent and the augury of a brilIiant career. ' "It is the intention of Mr. Harriman to ultimately enter the professional class. Just now be is interested in literary work in Ann Arbor, being on the editorial board ot the weekly and monthly magazine issued by the cpllege, the Wrinkle and the Iulander. He is at work ona one-act play, which will be pnblished in the Inlander and afterward presented by him in Ann Arbor. For years he has been a collector of dramatic literatura and now has a collection that is very valuable. 'It is not the salary that attracts me to the stage,' he writes, 'bnt the very art of the thing. I know exactly the life, and that it is not a thing of set cottages aad gardeus. I am arnbitious and will go in to win, knowing fnll well that in this world oue eau amonnt to nothins in any line of endeavor without worlt, work, work. ' "
