Sven Hedin, tho Norwegian traveler, has disoovered on the north side of the Kuen Lnn mountaius, and in the edge of the great desert of Gobi, the ruina of towns which he thinks were buried by sand storms abont 1,000 years ago. The largest town was nearly 2 miles long, and a canal comiected it and the surronnding country with the Keri ja river. The houses had walls of plaited reeds, covered with mnd and then coated with white piaster, and on these piaster walla ■were well execnted paintings of men, animáis and flowers. Poplars, apricots and plum trees had evidently flourisheri there before the invasión of the saud. -
