BITTER TASTE. It Aids in the Detection of Unwholesome Food. Daniel Webster, in tbe famons White trial in Salem, Mass., years ago, declared that "morder will out." Tbis maxirn bas been fonnd applicable to rnany other things besides mnrder. Honsewives know it to be trae when tbere is alnm in baking powder. A bitterness ia the bread at once betrays tbe alum's presence. It can't oonceal its true Datare. The alnm bitteruess "will out," and becanse it will, pbysicians, wbo understand the barmfnl effect of alnm on the system, are at a loss to know why people continue to buy baking powders containing it. All baking powders sold for 25 cents a pound and less contain alnm. Tbere is snrely no economy in nsing tbese oheap powders. For a pure cream of tartar powder, as Dr. Pi;ic$'s was shown to be at the World's Fair, goes so mach farther and gives so much better resnlts, there is no doubt of its being more economical in the long run.
