Satnrday afternoou there arrived in Anu Arbur frotii Ypsílauti and Toledo, 16 ladies aud 16 geutlemen bent ou seeing who wete the most expert playera at whist. The Ypsilantiaus arrived on the 8 o'clock motor aud the resideuts of the oity on the Maumee pnt iu au appearauoe at 5 o'clock. All repaired to the American house where the pleasant parlor oMhat hotel had been placed at fheir disposal by Mr. Staebler. Little time was lost in getting down to business and the match commeuced with the eight ladies in each party playing against each other and the gentlemen doing likewise, rnaking eigbt tables of playera in all. Atterwards the paities sbifted around and the Ypsilanti ladies played the Toledo gentlemen and the Toledo ladies played the Ypsilanti boys. When 32 trays at each table had been played it was fonud that there was barely time left for the Toledo people to get their suppers and catch the 8:35 train. Jast how the match terminated is not kuown as the score oards were in a bad state of confusión, but it is known that the Toledo folks were victorious by abont 40 points. The Ypsilauti gentlemen lost to the Toledo gentlemen by abont 9 points; the Ypsilanti ladies sncoumbed to the superiority of their opponents by abont 14 points; the Ypsilanti gentlemen were defeated by the Toledo ladies by abont 7 points; and the Toledo gentlemen won from the Ypsilanti ladies by abont 10 points. The ladies and gentlemen who played on the Toledo side were Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Lemmon, Mr. and Mrs. L J. Mathias, Dr .T. M. Bessey, Miss A. R. Sisson, Mrs. W. R. Dyer, Mrs. E. P. Day, Mrs. W. H. Harrison, Mrs. C. B. Llnyd.'Mrs. M. P. Hnbbell, Win. Gorton, Tracy Barnes, W. D. Taylor, W. W. Alcorn and F. W. Mathias. The Ypsilanti players were Mr. and Mrs. Bert E. Couk, Mrs. E. S. Speuoer, Mrs. Coe, Miss Towner, C. W. Rogers, Dr. G. M. Hall, Dr. L. M. James, H. D. Platt, M. T. Woodruff, and six others.
