Frederick John Swaine, a weü known aud prominent citizen of Ypsilanti, died at his home in that oity at 10:15 o'clock Wednesday evening after a brief ilness. Mr. Swaine was born in Westraham, Kent county, England, April 22, 1850. When 21 years oíd he made a pleasnre trip to this country aud coming to Ypsüanti to visit friends be was so pleased with the surroundings of the oity that after a bnsinesa trip to Eugland he retnrned to Ypsilanti aud has lived there ever since. His business was that of a maltster and he was well know through this sectiou of the state in that conneotion. In politios Mr. Swaine was a democrat and was for many years chairman of the oity comrolttee. At last fall's election he espoused the Sound Money side of the questioo and was at the taead of the local olub. He was a member of the F. & A. M., A. O. ü. V., Knights of Honor aud Arbeiter Verein. The funeral servioes will be held this aftemoon and will be conducted by Rev. Win. Uardam, rector of St. Lnke's church. His wife and two daughters the Misses Florence aud Jessie Swaine survive dim.
