President and Mrs. J. B. Angelí will sail for Turkey Oune 13. The university suraruer school will oominence Jaly 7 and close Aug. 18. A rnovemenfc is on foot amoug the stndents to establlsh a gun clnb, similar to the Facalty Gun Club. Prof. M. L. D'Ooge will deliver the oomruencement address before the Owosso high school class next inonth. President Angelí returned frorn the east Tuesday morning aDd resumed his work at the university. He will oontinue his course on the history of treaties until his departnre fnr Turkey, which will be about June 12. It is rumored that Prof. Levi T. Griffin will retire from the law school faculty at the close of this school year on account of his total deafuess interfering so much with his work as an instructor, and that another Detroit lavvyer will sncceed hiia. The senior class met Monday and deoided to establish a scholarship as the class memorial. It was determined to devote one-eighth of the amouut raised by the class tax to this object. If the full amount of the tax is oollected this precentage will be f 150, and will be nsed as the nucleus of a scholarship fund. E. L. Norris, '96 Jaw, who was recently elected assstant city attorney of Prescott, Ariz.,. was shot in the back Sunday morning by crimináis escaping from the county jail. He was well known here as one of the flrst editors of "Bes Gestae," and had a very promising future before him. He died frorn the effects of his wonnds. The Students' Lectnre Assooiation offlcers for the ensuing year were elected Satarday morning as follows: President, P. P. Sadler; vioe president, W. A. Chatnbtirlaiu, '98 deut; treasnrer, J. F. Thomas, 97 lit; correspcmding secretary, B. H. Coon, '97 lit; recording seoretary, A. A. Webber, '98 eng. ; three-year directora, H. E. Donglas, '98 phar, and F. H. Harris, '98 rued. The Chicago Uuiversity uine defeated the U. of M. baseball team in the flrst game of the series of three at Chicago on Saturday. The score was 5 to 8. It was a great pitchers' game? Clarke, for the Cbicago's only allowed the Michigan boys three hits, but gave them three bases on balls. For Michigan, MllJer did not give a man first base on balls, although seven hits wer made off his delivery. Dr. B. T. Simonian, who graduated from the medical college some years ago, but who instead of practicing his profession, engaged in trade at Grand Rapids, Petoskey, Mackinac and Jacksonville and amaesed a considerable fortuup. experienóed the cnlmination of a romance dating back to his boyhood days on Saturday last. He came to America from Armenia 11 years ago leaving behind him his sweetheart Anna Kaudiokian. Reefintly she escaped co New York and on Satnrday in the presence of large number of Armenian refugees the two, so long separated, were united in marriage.
