Chairman Cady presented an ordinnce entitled "Au Ordinance Relative o the Pavement of Streets," which was iven its first reading by title. Aid. Moore moved that the ordinance je placed on its second reading. Adopted as follows : Yeas - Aid. 'o the Common Council: Your Committee on Sewers to whom was referred the report of the City En;ineer relative to the construction of a ateral sewer in sewer district No. 6, eg leave to submit the following reort: That we have examined the proflle nd report of the City Engineer and re are of tbe opinión that a lateral ewer in said district No. 6 is a necesary public improvement and that the ame ought to be constructed on and long the following streets: On Ann, from Main Sewer to Ingalls t.; on Kingsley, from División st. to ingalls st.; on Lawrence,from División ;. to Ingalls st. : on Catherine, from jetroit st. to División st.; on ine, from State st. to Ingalls st., ou Cornwell place; on División, from Hurón st. Sewer to Main Sewer; on State, from Hurón st. Sewer to Main Sewer; ou Ingalls, from Ann to Kingsley st.; on Tnayer, from Ann to Kingsle.v st.; on Fifth, from Catherine to Huron st.; on Fourth, from Ann to Huron st.; on Main, from Aun to Catherine. Your Committee approves the boundaries of the lateral sewer district indicated in such report and recommend that the Board of Public Works be ordered to ask for bids for the coustruction of such lateral sewer. Your Committee on Sewers to whom wi-s referred the subject of a sewer on West Liberty st. wonld recommend that Wednesday, June 2, 1897, from 10 a. m. to 4 p. in., at the office of the City Clerk be set as the time and place for hearing all persons interested and that such date be advertised in the official newspapers of the city. Your Committee on Streets would recommend that $325.00 be appropriated from the Street Fund to grade West Huron street, between Seventh and the forks, and also that the grade of W. Bv Alderman Mooie: Whereas. in the opinión of the Council the grade on W. Huron st. ought to be changed and öxed and established, to the end that such street may be made suitable for public travel and trafflc. Therefore, Resolved, and it is hereby ordered that the grade on W. Huron st., trom center line of W. Seventh st. to the center line of Dexter ave., be, and the same is hereby changed from the present grade and fixed and established so that the grade on and along such street shall be as folio ws, that is to say: At the center line of N. Seventh st 836.00 ft. At the center line of S. Eighth st 838.50 ft. At the center line of S. Ninth st 843 00 ft. At 556 ft. west of the center line of S. Ninth st S56.50 ft. At 1006 ft. west of the center line of S. Ninth st 863.00 ft. At 1228 ft . west or at the center line of Dexter ave 867.50 ft. the elevation given being above the offlciai city datum and along the center line of said street, and the grade lines to consist of straight lines between the several points or stations above stated, the roadway to conform thereto. To the Common Council: Your Committee on Streets would recommend that the Board of Public Works be directed to pave the alley between Fourth and Fifth aves. 120 feet south from Washington st. and f urther that $50.00 be appropriated from the Contingent Fund to complete the curbing along Hanover Square on Packard and División sts.. Manley, the present incumbent, so rquests, that he be directed to deliver all moneys, books, and papers now in bis hands as City Treasurer to his successor at this time and not wait for the report of the checking by the accountant.
