George LaVear, Philip LaVear, August Atndt and Stephen Giester, the three first named being drayinen liviug on the north side, were arrested in Chelsea, Wednesday uight, on a warrant sworn out by Frederic Sagar, sr., afarmer liviug in Sylvan township, three miles west of Chelsea. The men went to Mr. Sagai's place to buy some eggs and got into a quarrel with him over the bargaiu. They all jnmped on him and one of them hit hitü on the bead with a stoue, nearly breaking nis 6kull, while the others kicked and struck him with a wbip until he was insensible. They then drove off towards Jackson. Mr. Sagar went to Chelsea to have nis head dressed, there being a large soalp wound on the left side of the head, his ear was brnised, and his body was also badly brnised in several places. Deputy Sheriffs Staffan and Wood went after the crowd and found them at Sylvan Center about to engage in a free-for-all fight with a certain farnily, in whioh ases, stones and olnbs promised to be a prominent feature. The gang soon caught sigbt of the offloers and jumped into their wagons whipped up their horses and atteiupted toescape. Several shots were fired in the air by the deputies, but the gang would not stop. The livery horses beiug fresh, the officers soon overtook the men, who were quiokly handcuffed and taken to Chelsea. A young woman, possibly about 17, and a boy about 14 svere found in one of the wagons, and were also taken to Chelsea. They all pleaded nnt guilty. Trial was set for yesterday mom ing at 10 o'clook before Justice Turnbull. They are a turbulent lot and have been in troable before. It is likely they will get a just puuishinent now for their misdeeds,
