The cornmon council only appropriated $600 for the contingent fund next year. This is the fnnd oat of wbich the salaries, the lighting and all incidental expenses are paid. It is trne that the liquor money goes in this fnnd, bot this is hardly more than enough to pay the lightiug of the oity and the salary of the city clerk. There are a large nnmber of other salaries and many other expenses to come out of the fnnd. How do the aldermun expect to pay these expenses? Every one should dotíis or her part tb help on the celebration of the Fonrth of Jnly in this city, and make it the grand snccess it deserves to be. Ann Arbor has done without this celebration for years enough to make this almost a novnlty and the occasion certainly is deserving of patriotic commemoration.
