"Tbere was a farmer np home," he said, "who used to have bis occasional spree. Every one kuew bis failing, and neither of tbe druggists in towu would sell hini a drop. One day he brought a quart bottle iuto oue of the apothecary shops, with two or three big lunips of gum caniphor in the bottoru. He told tbe druggist that his wife wanted her camphor bottle rilled with alcohol. The druggist fllled it without suspecting anything. In a week the oíd man carne again, and in a little while the third time. Finally the druggist discovered that the 'gum camphor' was milky quartz, picked up in the fields, and that the farmer had poured camphor over the outside of the bottle until enough had rystallized there to look natural and smell right.
