M. will hold their annual conventions in Port Huron eomniencing next Tnesday, Jnly 20. About 600 tickets were sold for the Y. M. C. A. excursión to Detroit yesterday, and the ten coaches en the train were comfortably filled. It was an ideal day and an ideal excursión. A lad who gave his name as Zimmerrnan and hisTesidence as Lima, O., was takeu to jail Wednesday night. He was around with a lot of tramps who he claimed made him go out begging. . Ann Arbor is at last to be rennmbered ajjd the work will commence next week. ,It is estimated by City Engineer Key that there are 3,000 housestonumber, wb4ch with an average of three figures ío a house will take 10,000 figures. The figures have been made by Rohert Hunter and are of aluminnin 9? per cent pnre. Silver headed nails will be used to fasten up the numbers. At the weekly meeting of the board of public works Weduesday eveniug, it was recommended that bids for the oonstructiou of a sewer on W. Liberty st. in distriot No. 7, be advertised for. City Eugineer Key submitted the various estiruates, which had been ordered at the last meeting of the council, that on the 500 feet of 24 inch tile being $425. Mr. Key was ordeed to make an estímate of what it would cost to improve the dangerous oondition of Packard st. frorn the junction to the oity limits. A"request will be submitted to the coancil that the estímate on the sewer in district Ko. 6 be given twice a month instead of once, as at present. To do tbis the council will have to suspend its rules, which provide for an estirnate ouly once a montb. An excursión will begiven to Detroit and Port Huron, under the management of Mrs. Florence S. Babbitt, senior vice president of the department of Michigan, W. R. C, under whose auspices the excursión is given, on Taesday, Aug. 3. The train will start froin Jackson and will take up passengers at all stations on the Michigan Central to Detroit. Arrived at Detroit the steamer Greyhound will be in waiting to take excursionists on to Port Huron. Fare for the round trip from Ann Arbor, 90 cents to Detroit, and $1.40 to Port Huron; froin Ypsilanti, 75 cents to Detroit, and $1.25 to Port Huron. Last year this was oue of the nicest and best patronized exoursions of the season and everything will be doce to roake it equally pleasant this year. Train time will be annouuced later. The Ypsilauti Light Guard Band will accompany the excursión and furnish ruusic.
