Bertha Cunninghani, of Dundee, and Selina Kranzuh, of Blissfleld, were arrested lest week on a charge of rifling letters belonging to a man named Cunningbam, who travels for a Goshen, Ind., pbarmaiy bonse. Cnnningham expected a reinittanco, and, inaking protest, learned froni Postmaster Pulver that two girls, one of tbem named Cnnningham, had got several letters, the Cunningham girl claiming sbe was the daughter of a Conningham who lived in Toledo and was expected here in a few days. The Cnnningham girl gave op one of the letters, trat declared the other two were in possession of the Eianznh girl in Toledo. Postmaster Pulver and Cunningham went on a wild goose ohase to Toledo, but before tbey returned the girl carne to Dundee and was arrested. The girls admitted tearing up the letters. The pieces werefonnd in the street, with fragments of a $50 draft. The two girls were taken before Judge Swan and Commissioner Graves in the United States district court at Detroit Tuesday and after Jndge Swan had lectured thern severely on the enorniity of their crime, pointing out to theru that he could send theru to prison for five years for the offense, they were discharged on suspended sentence. Neither of the girls had any money so a collection was taken upand ruough was raised to pay their railroad fares back te their home in Dundee.
