John Hagen, a well known farmer of Ann Arbor town, and who has been a resident of this county since 1844, died yesterday at the home of his son in Aun Arbor town where he has been living for several months past, aged 78 years, 7 rnonths aud 7 daye. The fuueral services will be held at the house tomorrow at 1 :30 p. m. John Hagen was born at Charle, Prussia, Jan. 19, 1819, and was the youngest of a family of six children, several of whom lived to a great old age. His father died when he was three years old. At the age of 21 he was drafted into the Prussian army and served for two years. In June, 1844, he carne to Ann Arbor with a colony of people and worked around for different farmers for four years and in 1848 bought an 80 acre farm just north of Anu Arbor. The same year he married Miss Catherine Feldkamp and she died in 1869. Three aud a half years later he married Johanna F. Donke, who survives him. By his first wife he has issue Mrs. Mary Haas, Jacob, Frank, Lewis aud Emma Hagen; by the second wife Lydia, Tillie, Fred, Anna and Herman Hagen. Mr. Hagen accumulated rnuch property during the active years of his life, owning 500 acres of land in Ann Arbor town, 215 acres in Salem, and several residences in Ann Arbor.
