On Tuesday four men who were working in tbe sewer trench on N. Main st. were overeóme by gas wbich had escaped throngh a large hole in the gas main and permeated tbe ground in its immediate vicinity. Three of them recovered qnite rapidly from its efïects, but in tbe oase of the fonrth Rudolph Graf, a masón, who was employed in building tbe manhole it was of a more serious nature. When Mr. Graf was taken from tbe manhole he was nnoonsoious and it took Drs. Breakey and Herdman nearly half an hour before they oould get hira resuscitated. He was taken to bis home on Pontiao st. in Dieterle's ambulance and was able to be out and around again tbe next day.
