The social on the lawn at Fr. L. P. joldrick's residence in Northfleld, rhnrsday evening of last week, was ittended by between 300 and 400 peoale. It was chilly and the sales of ice ;ream did not seem to move with the rapidity that would doubtless have jeen apparent had it been warmer, stil) i neat little sum was realized. A musical program was lendered dnring rhe eveuing, those takiug part in it being the Northfield MandolĂ­n aud 3titar Club coneisting of the Mieses May and Lettie Carroll, Mainie and Annie Hammond and Mr. Frank Taylor. solos by Miss Rosina Smitb, etc. Re?. Fis. Selly and Dooling, of Ann Arbor, Kennedy, of Ypsilanti, and Commerford, of Pinckney, were among the gnests. The most interesting feature was the contest for the bicycle and other prizes bPtween the Misses Sarah McConrt.Eva Cahill, Anna Welch, Lillie Donegan, Rosie Burke and Maggie Bentley. The first three named took the prizes, the first beiDg a bioycle, the second a gold ring, and the third an album. The ainounts they brought in respectively were: Miss McConit $152, Miss Cahill $113, Miss Welch 90.20. The tutal ainount bronght in was $431. Fr. tĂ­oldriok's picnics and socials are always a success and this one was no exception.
