" Classes had been disiuissed from 11 to 12 o'clook aud it seemed as if the wholOjUniversity had fcutned out in a body. Mr. Jeöersou was reoeivad with loud and prolongad applanse on his appeaiance on tbe stage. Aoting President Hutohins made a brief speech of welcome and then iotrodnoed Mr. Jefïerson to the audiehce. He spoke 011 tbe subject of "Aotors and Aoting." The first part of his address was of a humoro'us character and kept his hearers in a obronic state of laugbter, but tbe latter part gave muoh food for thought asj he discnssed the stage and pointed out the difference between the actor and the orator. The orator, he said "should impress the audience by what he says to it, while the actor shows how he is impressed by what is said to him. An aotor mast be able to listen well, the orator does not have to. " Mr. Jefferson was the guest of Aciting President Hutchins dnring his stay in the oity.
