Springfleld, Hls., Dec. 14. - The state board of arbitration rendered a decisión in the matter of the joint applieation of the Deere & Mansur company of Moline, Hls., and certain of their employés. The Deere & Mansur company Is engaged in manufacturing agricultural implements. The employés in the painting department, about thirty in tumber, demanded an increase of Wages. The company refused to grant the advance, and without suspending operations both sides joined in a petition for arbitration. In its decisión the arbitration board eays the only reason set forth for the demand for increased wages was the alleged fact that higher wages were being paid for the same kind of work by competing companies. The board flnds that the employés were misinformed fts to the wages paid by other companies. The day wages paid by the Deere & Mansur company are higher than the wages paid by most of its eompetitors, while the prices for piece work average quite as much as the prices paid by the other companies. The board finds, therefore, that the deianded increase of wages is' without siSlncient justification.
