Tbe Detroit. Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor Eleotrio Railway is sparing uo expense to make its eqnipment first olass. Track-Iaying will be rusbed as soon as the frost is out of the ground, and on or before May 1 the finest electrio cars in the United States will ba running between Detroit and Ann Arbor. The cars will be larger than those on the rapid railway or Detroit & Pontiao lines and mocb more eleagnt. President Hawks has deoided to spend $146 extra on eaoh oar for pĂ­ate glass Windows, Tbe oais will be handsomely npbolstered, witb plnsb seats, toilet rooms and in every way modela of comfort and convenience. Ten cars in all are being bnilt by the Barney & Smith Co., of Dayton, Obio, each 45 feet long, eqnipped with Westingbonse air brakes and four 50-borse power Westingbouse motors, enabling it to ron 40 miles an bonr. Tbe rapid railway oars and otber cars running in Detroit bave only two motors. The power house now building at Ypsilanti will be a oomplete Westingbonse plant. The Detroit offioe of Westingbouse, Cburoh, Kerr & Co., bas the contraot for the entire equipment. Only the best known and most eoonomioal type of machinery will be used. The Fuller oompany, of Detroit, is building two nins-foot fans, which will be plaoed between the Roney stokers and tbe smokestack to insure good draft.
