Death Of General Mcconnell

Springfleld, Hls., March 15.- General John McConnell is dead. He was 74 years of age. He was a native of the state oí New York, but had resided in this county since childhood. He entered the Union army in the war of the rebenion as captain of Company A, Third Illinois cavalry, was a gallant soldier, and attained the rank of brigadier general by brevet. He leaves a widow and several children, one of whom is Judge Samuel P. McConnell of Chicago.
