Madison. Wis.. April 26. - A massmeeting of the university students held n the gymnasium in the afternoon was addressed by President Adams. He discouraged the% students from rushing nto the service at present, but advised them to reorganize and drill and if they be needed later on to go home and raise companies. In this way they could do most effective service. He said the recent action of the students in tramping a Spanish fiag in the mud was undignifled. President Adams oontinued: '-I heartily approve of the war. Up :o the last moment I had hoped that President McKinley would be able to accomplish what the nation demanded by peaceful means. But that proved to be impossible. Kvery consideration of humanity and national honor now requires that we flght it out to 'the end." His speech v.as received wlth great enthusiasm. Acting on the president's suggestion flve companies of forty men each were immediately formed and officers were elected. Daily drills will be held.
