Washington, May 24.- The state department has made formal response to the Austrian government as to the Hungarians killed at Hazleton, Pa., in the riots last fall. The governor of Pennsylvania sent in a report made up rnostly of a recorij of the celebrated trial and this was reviewed by the attorney general and supplemented by a strong argument to maintain the position taken by our government, namely, that it is not responsible, under the ciroumstances, for the kilUng.
