While everyone is talking of war and nmors of war, who is in favor of an leotrio road from Aun Arbor ont arongh Northfleld, Webster and Hamjnrg, by tha lakes, Independencia, trawberry and Zakey, to Brighton nd on to some principal plaoe like ■"ontiac for instance? Business men in nn Arbor could go oat to the lakes very night and back to tbeir business d the morning all through tbe summer. While their families could go and come wbenever they wanted to. The farmers along the line wonld slick up, pnt on their Sunday-go-to-meeting olothes.and go to town twioe as of ten as they do now. They would pay a handsome bonus to help the road too. If it could be built to oarry freigbt there would be a good deal uf business. Independence Lake is a very pretty little body of water, with high banks, hard shores, a nioe grove on the uorth and east sides, tbe shore nearly all around the lake is high ground, mak ing ideal places for cottages. There is no inlet and it is fed by springs so tbat tbe water ia pure during all the hot weather. Strawberry and the other lakes are too well known to need any thing said about them. An eleotrio coad wonld more than pay duting tbe snmmer and by making it a freigbt carrying line it wonld also pay in winter. All those in favor of the motion will say Aye. Webster, June 13, 1898.
