"Washington, June 14.- The first división of United States troops to begrin the invasión of Cuba sailed {rom Key West at daylight. The expedition comprises 773 officers and 14,564 enlisted men, all under the command of Major General Shafter. A large forcé of transports conveyed the troops under the convoy of a strons squadron of warships ranging from the immense battleship to the small gunboat and armed fast-sailing yacht. New ' York. June 13. - The latest advices from The Journal dispatch boat show that the defeat of the Spaniards at Santiago Friday was overwhelming. A Tribune dispatch eays that the Spaniards at Santiago are landing cannon from Cervera's fleet and preparing to make a desperate resistance to the land forces. Admiral Sampson is arming the insurgents. Kingston, Jamaica, June 13. - News has been received here to the effect that a forcé of American marines has landed on the shores of Guantanamo bay and that the stars and stripes are now floating from a Spanish flagstaff. New York, June 10. - A special cable from Cape Haytien says: Admiral Sampson has forced his way into Guantanamo harbor, forty-flve miles eas't of Santiago, securing a safe anchorage in case of hurricane and a landing place for troops. Another dispatch says that reports indícate that the flghting has been continued on the heights around Santiago. New York, June 11.- The ticker service sends out the fo'.lowing dispatch: "Havana - The American fleet bombarded Santiago again today, the engagement lasting from 8 to 11 o'clock. No details have been received."
